Increase in annual earnings for Massachusetts casinos by 1.7% observed in June compared to previous years
**Massachusetts Casinos Generate $97.7 Million in June 2025**
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has released figures showing that the state's commercial casinos generated a total revenue of $97.7 million in June 2025. This represents a slight increase of 1.7% compared to the same month the previous year, despite a marginal decline at the top-performing venue, Encore Boston Harbor.
Encore Boston Harbor, the state's leading casino, saw its share of the total revenue drop slightly from 63% in June 2024 to less than 62% in June 2025. The casino's revenue fell 0.2%, from $60.4 million in June 2024 to $60.2 million in June 2025.
MGM Springfield, another commercial casino, saw a 4.1% increase in revenue, reaching $22.8 million in June 2025. Plainridge Park Casino posted a 5.9% year-over-year gain, generating $14.6 million.
It's worth noting that Massachusetts currently has no active tribal casinos generating revenue for either the tribes or the state. The tribal gaming landscape is limited to plans (not yet realized) for a Class II facility on Martha’s Vineyard by the Aquinnah Wampanoag and an unbuilt Mashpee casino in Taunton. The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe's Taunton Casino Welcome Center recently expanded its facilities with a license for alcoholic beverages, but this does not signify the launch of legal tribal casino gambling in Massachusetts.
The combined gross gaming revenue across the state's three commercial casinos declined from $105.4 million in May 2025 to $97.7 million in June 2025, representing a month-on-month drop of almost 9%. However, the state still collected $40.3 million in tax revenue from these casinos in June 2025, with sports wagering contributing an additional $12.4 million.
The three commercial casinos—Encore Boston Harbor, MGM Springfield, and Plainridge Park Casino—continue to dominate the market, generating significant contributions to the state's revenue. As of now, there is no tribal casino gaming revenue being reported in Massachusetts.
