Authorities apprehended two individuals and are on the hunt for the female purchaser of counterfeit jewelry.
In Dortmund, Germany, on Saturday, June 28th, an unusual incident unfolded in Viktoriastraße. Civilian police officers in Lünen observed a suspicious jewelry sale from a car, which led to a series of events that resulted in the arrest of two individuals.
The driver of the car, a 48-year-old man, and his passenger, a 46-year-old woman, both Romanian citizens without a fixed address in Germany, were the suspects in question. The sale, which raised suspicions of fraudulent activities, was believed to involve the sale of fake gold.
As the officers moved in for a control, the driver attempted to flee, driving through two red lights before stopping on his own after a brief pursuit. The buyer of the jewelry, described as approximately mid-50s and slim, remains unknown.
The police conducted a search of the vehicle and seized two counterfeit mobile phones and a low two-digit amount of cash from the jewelry sale. After identification and payment of a €750 bail, the two suspects were released from the station.
Criminal proceedings for fraud and endangerment of traffic safety through illegal street racing have been initiated. The Dortmund Criminal Investigation Department can be contacted at 0231/132-7441 regarding the buyer.
In light of this incident, it is a reminder to exercise caution when purchasing gold. Tips include buying from trustworthy sellers, being wary of cheap offers, conducting an authenticity test, avoiding cash payments to unknown sellers, educating oneself about real gold's features, and being cautious with street sales.
